The Nito Series is all about neutral tones, heavy texture, and sustainability. The real, nito vine is collected and cleaned before being handwoven into a metal mesh to recreate the natural, sporadic pattern of the vine as it grows around tree trunks. This outer diffuser is not only an attractive feature, but strong enough to serve as a protective barrier for the banana paper, inner diffuser. Banana fiber paper is created from banana trees that are cut down and would otherwise become waste. In addition to the environmental impact, recycling this natural by-product provides extra income to the local, Filipino farmers.
Bulb Recommendations:
We highly recommend using LED bulbs with this lamp. 400 to 800 lumens per bulb in soft white light is suggested.

Construction:
The inner diffuser features banana fiber paper which is adhered using a non-toxic adhesive to a standard UL lamp backing. This mesh is attached to a heavy duty wrought iron frame, powder coated, to ensure the lamps longevity. Light bulbs are accessible by reaching through the top and bottom of the lamp. This lamp sets on six wooden finials as feet and can be turned on/off with a foot switch.
Eco-Friendly:
We are a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council; a coalition of manufacturers, retailers, and designers dedicated to raising awareness and expanding the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices across the home furnishings industry.
Our products are manufactured using materials that are sustainably harvested, safe dyes that are food-based, and water-based finishes.
The fibers on this lamp are by-products when the plant is harvested, providing a second source of income for the farmers.

We view ourselves as partners with our manufacturers and continuously exchange ideas on how to improve production, product quality, and the health and well-being of the artisans that work to create the products we sell. We visit our manufacturers on a regular basis to ensure that our core mission is being followed.
Our products are produced in the Philippines, a country that is fast growing, and progressive on ensuring workers' rights. It is also a country where many companies are run by women and their entrepreneurial efforts are encouraged.
The artisans who make our pieces are paid a living wage, provided quality housing, have access to continuing education, and work under dignified and safe conditions.
The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
