Banana Bowl Sconce

The Banana Bowl Sconce is inspired by the functional art of the banana leaf bowl; a long used tool created by pinning the leaf of a banana plant into a bowl shape. The pinned leaf design of the sconce is open at the top and bottom creating directed light while ambient lighting diffuses through the shade.

  • Product Features
  • Number of Bulbs: 2
  • Dimensions: 9 inches long x 7 inches wide x 22 inches high

Eangee recommends light bulbs based on heat, not by light output.

We recommend using either compact florescent light (CFL) bulbs or LED bulbs. These will provide the same amount of light but use less wattage and produce less heat as compared to a standard incandescent bulb. The lower heat will help ensure the longivity of the lamp .

If you use an incandescent bulb, we suggest a maximum of 40 watts.

Construction:
Features fossilized cocoa leaves that are handplaced on a standard UL lamp backing and then laminated. The panel is handstitched onto a powder coated, wrought iron frame to form an arched bowl shape. The lamp is accented with a single, abaca-wrapped metal stem in the center and a bamboo rod through the top and bottom. Each sconce includes approximately five feet of cord with plug and the hardware needed to hardwire if desired.

Eco-Friendly:
We are a founding member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council; a coalition of manufacturers, retailers, and designers dedicated to raising awareness and expanding the adoption of environmentally sustainable practices across the home furnishings industry.

Our products are manufactured using materials that are sustainably harvested, safe dyes that are food-based, and water-based finishes.

The leaves used in our products are either collected after a tree naturally sheds them or are plucked from a living tree. In either case, the plant isn't harmed. Additionally, the purchase of the leaves we use provides a secondary income to the framers who grow and care for plants.

Fair-Trade:
We view ourselves as partners with our manufacturers and continuously exchange ideas on how to improve production, product quality, and the health and well-being of the artisans that work to create the products we sell. We visit our manufacturers on a regular basis to ensure that our core mission is being followed.

Our products are produced in the Philippines, a country that is fast growing, and progressive on ensuring workers' rights. It is also a country where many companies are run by women and their entrepreneurial efforts are encouraged.

The artisans who make our pieces are paid a living wage, provided quality housing, have access to continuing education, and work under dignified and safe conditions.

The handcrafted touch of artisan skill creates variations in color, size and design. If buying two of the same item, slight differences should be expected. Note: Color discrepancies may occur between this product and your computer screen.
